Weekly round up of WordPress news – Vol 2

Here is our second weekly roundup of interesting stories from around WordPress:

Making WordPress accessible – WPMU Dev
Accessibility really matters and it still seems to be something that is an afterthought in WordPress websites. Here is a great guide for making your WordPress site accessible.

CMB2 is now being worked on by 3 big WordPress companies – Zao
CMB2 is a developer’s toolkit for building metaboxes, custom fields, and forms for WordPress. This post covers how Human Made, Zao, and WebDevStudios, are coming together to work on CMB2. Definitely worth a read if you are looking for an alternative to a plugin like Advanced Custom Fields.

Image widget being proposed for WordPress 4.8 – WP Tavern
This is something that is long overdue as we have typically installed a WordPress plugin for this functionality. Let’s hope it gets approved and published in the next version of WordPress

Making remote working work – Pagely
As a remote working company ourselves, we are always interested in other peoples experiences with remote working. Here, Sean Tierney from Pagely shares his thoughts on his remote experience along with a video of a talk he did about the subject. Inspiring stuff.

Matt Mullenweg’s first quarter check in – WordPress.org
Want to know how Matt Mullenweg thinks the year is progressing in WordPress? This short summary shares his thoughts on this year’s progress and what we can look forward to in future WordPress versions coming in 2017.

Slow the fuck down – Via Post Status
I have left this until last for a reason as its one of the best posts I have read all year and it has a slightly offensive title. Working hard shouldn’t be a badge of honour that makes you sacrifice the important things in life like your health or spending time with your family. This post explains what you might be doing wrong and how you can re-focus on the important things in life.
