I am going to put it out there right now, there is literally nothing that makes more sense than getting up earlier than normal to get the important things done.
If that makes total sense to you then there is no need to read on, otherwise, for all you people who want to get more done, here are why it’s so important.
It’s one of the inexplicable facts of life that we all have 24 hours in a day, and how we choose to spend our time can make all the difference in our lives. The thing is though, certain people seem able to manipulate time so they get more done. Think of people like Richard Branson and Tony Robbins who seem to achieve the impossible on a daily basis, how do they do that when they have the same time resources we do.
Here is a tip, they don’t do it by lying in bed!
They do it by getting up early and getting on with the important tasks of the day when everyone else is still sleeping. When their competition is in their beds, these people are up and hungry for success. They are maximising the day and taking the actions necessary to make things happen at the best time of the day, first thing in the morning.
I am going to set you a challenge and all it involves is starting with getting out of bed 10 mins earlier each day and then using that 10 minutes to do your most important task of the day. For me, getting up really early in the morning means i can work out, take a cold shower, eat a healthy breakfast, review my outcomes for the day and go for a walk all before I have to bring my wife a cup of tea in bed before she gets out of bed to go to work, how’s that for maximising the time in a day?
I appreciate that not all people are ‘morning people’ and struggle out of bed in the morning. If you are one of these people then this will feel like a hardship. If you commit to this process for at least a week then you will find it gets easier and you will be automatically getting more done. I started with 10 minutes and now I get up nearly 2 hours earlier than I used to. Am I getting more done? I am doing way more than that, I am getting a massive amount of work done on the most important things to me. Start tomorrow morning with 10 minutes earlier and see how you feel. I think it will make all the difference to how many things you get done in a day.
